Frequently asked questions
How does the pre order model work?
Kardinal Guitars operates on a small batch pre order model. During each release window, customers can pre purchase from a curated selection of designs at a discounted price. Once the pre order window closes, we move directly into production and begin building each guitar specifically for the customers who ordered.
When will I receive my guitar?
Pre order guitars ship approximately six weeks after the pre order window closes. This timeline allows us to complete production, quality control, final setup, and packaging. You will receive updates along the way so you always know where your guitar is in the process.
Will there be guitars available after the pre order window?
Yes. For each batch, we produce a small percentage of additional guitars beyond pre orders. These guitars will be available at full retail price and can ship immediately once production is complete. Availability is very limited and varies by finish.
Why use a pre order model?
The pre order model allows us to offer boutique level craftsmanship and premium specifications at an accessible price. By building only what is ordered and keeping our overhead extremely lean, we avoid excess inventory and pass those savings directly to our customers.
Are these guitars considered custom?
Yes. Every batch is unique, and once a design is retired, it may never be offered again. Each guitar is hand stained and assembled, which means natural variations in wood grain and finish make every instrument one of a kind and built specifically for its owner.
How many releases do you offer each year?
We currently plan two releases per year.
The first release opens in January with delivery in the spring.
The second release opens in the summer with delivery in the fall, in time for the holidays.
How are the guitars quality checked?
Every guitar goes through a two stage quality inspection. The first inspection happens after production and assembly. The second inspection occurs at the time of shipping to ensure proper setup, playability, and cosmetic condition. This ensures your guitar arrives ready to play right out of the box.
Will my guitar look exactly like the photos?
While the overall design and finish will match what you ordered, natural wood variation and hand staining mean each guitar will have its own unique character. This is intentional and part of what makes every Kardinal guitar special.
